Whole New You + Giveaway

by  CN Team on March 28, 2017

Tia-Mowry.jpgYou know a cookbook is good when you can pick it up and just turn through the pages, stopping here and there to read as you drool over the recipes to come.  That was the case when we received Tia Mowry’s “Whole New You: How Food Transforms Your Life, for a Healthier, More Gorgeous You.”  The book is filled with not only mouthwatering recipes but life changing information and resources that are designed to help you enjoy your best life.

Mowry’s stint on the Cooking Channel with her hit show,” Tia Mowry at Home,” has garnered the actress a whole new audience who tunes in each week to see what deliciousness she is cooking up next.  We’re also fans of the show, taking away our fair share of recipes to try at home.

Mowry, who also embraced being a vegan at one time, doesn’t disappoint with “Whole New You.”  She is very open about her past health issues that include endometriosis, a painful conditioning in which tissue grows outside of your uterus inside of inside. This can make it difficult for women to become pregnant. Through the acknowledgement of making what she says, “a series of little choices that pushed my body in the wrong direction,” she soon discovered the healing power of making the right food choices and what you will read about in this book is how she did that and as a result, the foods and meals that help keep her balanced and whole.

This book is a keeper right on the kitchen counter.  Don’t let it move.  Don’t let friends and family borrow it.  Tell them to get their own.  We’re truly loving the recipes in this book that range from soups and stews, salads, desserts, appetizers, entrees and drinks.  You name it and it is in here.  A few already cooked, tested and approved, here are our top 10 (this wasn’t easy):

  1. Beef and Lentil Soup, page 101
  2. Buttermilk Fried Chicken, page 119
  3. Thai Beef Lettuce Wraps, page 144
  4. Tomato Basil and Cauliflower Pizza, page 147
  5. Carrot Fettucine with a Warm Shallot Sauce, page 170
  6. Twiced-Baked Sweet Potatoes, 185
  7. Kale & Almond Fried Rice, page 201
  8. Quinoa Tabbouleh, page 208
  9. Crispy Roasted Chickpeas, page 250
  10. Blackberry Margarita, page 260

There is a little something for everyone, even vegans and vegetarians.

Finally, Mowry is an advocate not just for eating well but for also finding activities that help you along this journey of health and wellness.  She highlights yoga and acupuncture as complements to foods you eat, giving you a well-balanced and holistic approach to health.
