Must Haves

CN-essentials
  1. Rick's Picks' Hotties
What will the folks over at Rick's Picks' think of next? Doesn't matter because whatever they are selling, we are buying! We sampled a wide variety of pickles from several vendors and we found that not only did Rick's Picks' pickles taste the freshest, but we enjoyed the complexity of the seasonings as well as the heat from the spicy saracha which gives these pickled chips that added kick and flavor that were lacking in the others. We tested them on sandwiches, salads, and salsa. The fact that they are low in sodium, low in sugar and gluten free is only an added bonus. Our advice is to test them alone first and just like us, we bet you can't eat just one. Purchase price is $7.99 for a 24 oz. jar. www.rickspicksnyc.com

  2. Cuttin' Up with Guy Fieri
Upbeat and fun loving, Food Network's Chef Guy Fieri knows how to keep a crowd interested and entertained. You will too when you start prepping your food with his "Knuckle Sandwich" line of kitchen knives. The blades are made of high carbon German stainless steel for stain resistance. The abbreviated bolster adds strength and balance and the hollow ground ovals in the blade promote stick and smoother cuts. Remember, having excellent cutlery in the kitchen is extremely important and can save you a lot of time, energy and stress. Purchase price is between $35.00-$76.00. www.ergochef.com

  3. Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer
If you're a juicer like me, it can be pretty annoying trying to cut up all the veggies and fruit to go into your blender, not to mention the cleanup afterwards. Thanks to the legendary fitness guru Jack LaLanne, our juicing experience just got a whole lot easier. Its sleek and compact in design, so that's awesome for folks such as myself who have tiny kitchens and not a lot of counter space. No need for pre-cut ingredients, the unit accommodates most whole fruits or veggies. This juicer boasts a non-drip spout with a super-sized detachable pulp collector. It's dishwasher safe and comes with a lifetime guarantee on its induction motor. Purchase price is $99.00. www.powerjuicer.com

  4. Functional Art
Not only are these tea cups from Kahler functional, but they are also beautiful. Your guests will be impressed as they sip their tea out of these one of a kind pieces from the Danish Company. Art, history and function will collide and mingle as the "Storia" set is based on 1930's design, but recreated for today. This set also includes a ceramic teapot and saucer, but can be purchased individually. Purchase price is between $32.95-$159.95. www.urban-butik.com

  5. Coffee Savor Canister
Ever wonder why your fresh ground coffee stops tasting the same after a while, even after puttng it in the fridge or freezer? Well that's because air, light and moisture can be your coffee's worst nightmare. Our friends at Friis Coffee have created a simple but ingenious way to solve that problem with the Coffee Savor. Created to block out all the elements that rob your coffee of its freshness, the Coffee Savor's patented freshness valve will help to keep your coffee longer.
