Greg B. C. Shaw

Dr. Greg Shaw is an assistant professor with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration at California State University, Sacramento, and the co-author of a book chapter, Tourism in A Bottle: The California Winescape. Shaw has a bachelor's degree in Architecture, a master's in Recreation Administration, and a Ph.D. in Geography. After completing dissertation work on architectural tourism, Shaw shifted gears to follow an interest in wine geography and wine tourism that began while studying architecture in France. His passion is for introducing new people to the world of wine as a tourism experience, believing that there are few cultural landscapes more beautiful than vineyards and wine country architecture. Shaw is on the Leadership Committee for the Hospitality Management Education Initiative of the California State University, a board member of the California Geographical Society, and a board member of the California Society of Park and Recreation Educators. Shaw is also a member of the Cultural Advisory Council for the California State Fair, which hosts the largest wine competition in the United States, and is a member of the Wine Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers. Shaw teaches courses in Wine Tourism, Travel and Tourism, Hospitality Administration, Diversity and Leisure, and Recreational Landscapes and Design.
