IMG_2125-webIt had been a while since my last visit to New York. It seemed over the years that my trips were limited to a quick layover on my way to Europe. But now I was preparing to actually place my feet in Times Square and take in the sites.

All I had on my mind was food, music and shopping. I was there on a business trip and luckily some friends were too so I had some "partners in crime" to help me on the big city.

Eating in New York can be very overwhelming because of the amount of choices. I think next to San Francisco, it is a foodie's heaven. My sister was there not too long ago and raved about one place in particular, Dallas BBQ. Then the same reviews came in from my friends who become so addicted in just two days, that I started to get a little excited. This would be perfect timing, especially since I knew our July issue would focus on the barbeque season.

With over nine locations in the state, you are bound to see one on any given excursion. We of course had to hit the best one, Times Square. Being in the city that never sleeps, we arrived around 8 pm and could tell by the crowds and actions of the staff, this was a typical Saturday night. Food and drinks moved around like they were on flying saucers. Dodge right, step left… just simply get out of the way.

The company is known throughout the city for having some of the best BBQ around so I couldn't wait to taste what all of the hype was about. They are also known for their oversized drinks and chicken wings. I guess everything is not just big in Texas.

First up, an order of those wings. We ordered spicy and crispy and out of curiosity, the Hennessy wings. A salad, fries and our Texas size frozen apple martini completed our first round of what was sure to be a wonderful culinary experience.

Next order, the Bar-B-Q Baby Back Ribs served with a sweet and tangy sauce. "Your eyes are bigger than your stomach" was a constant reminder from my dad growing up, and it still remains true to this day. After a few bones, it was time to call it a night, sit back and begin the digestion process.

With the exception of the Hennessy wings, everything was great. I can't say it is the best that I have ever had, but it ranks up there among spots to return to.

The staff was very knowledge about the menu and given the amount of people they have to deal with each night, appeared to be well-equipped to handle anything that came their way. I will say that I was disappointed that management didn't take the time to share a few words about the BBQ's history and what makes its locations so successful for this review. But overall, I give the experience three and a half forks and would suggest stopping by a location if you are in the Big Apple or planning to go there soon.
