Eat NOLA Noir to Launch New Orleans' First Black Restaurant Week

New Orleans first ever Black Restaurant Week kicks off right after Mardi Gras from February 12 - 24 featuring black-owned restaurants and bars offering their best dishes and deals. Participating restaurants will feature New Orleans Creole, Soul, African and Caribbean cuisines.

Eat NOLA Noir announced the event in partnership with local area restaurants to bring awareness and support of minority-owned restaurants and stimulate economic growth. The event will happen twice a year and include pop-up events throughout the year to promote local chefs, caterers, bakers and bartenders.

IMG_2005_web.jpgThe upcoming restaurant week includes restaurants in the New Orleans area, Westbank and New Orleans East and the lineup includes popular restaurants such as Neyow’s Creole Café, Heard Dat Kitchen, The Half Shell on the Bayou and for coffee and treats Backatown Coffee Parlour located on New Orleans' historic Basin Street.

IMG_2009_web.jpgEat NOLA Noir told us that their list of featured restaurants is growing and the final list will be featured soon on their website www.eatnolanoir.com.  Black Restaurant Week events in cities across the United States seem to be a growing phenomenon and a unique way to bring attention to black-owned restaurants and chefs while helping to increase revenue for their businesses. Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta and Memphis have all launched their versions and New Orleans is the latest city to help curate dining experiences for locals and visitors that represent diversity and culture.
