Texas winemaker Dr. Dawna Darjean Jones has another reason to open a bottle of her award-winning wines Darjean Jones Wines; bottles from her portfolio are set to appear in the upcoming Tyler Perry movie, “Nobody’s Fool.”

Opening on Friday, Nov. 2 in theaters nationwide, “Nobody’s Fool” stars Tiffany Haddish who is just released from prison and reunites with her sister (Tika Sumpter) only to find the man her sister has been dating online may not be what he seems. Bottles of Darjean Jones Wines can be seen in scenes of the movie as the wine of choice for its characters.  The brand’s inclusion is part of a continuing trend by movie producers to include wine as part of its characters’ lifestyles, further making them relatable to audiences.

“Seeing Darjean Jones Wines on screen in Tyler Perry’s “Nobody’s Fool” with such a star-studded cast is a bit surreal. As a small business owner and an African-American female winemaker, it gives me encouragement that smaller brands, such as Darjean Jones, have an opportunity to reach larger audiences and help increase awareness of worthy, award-winning, women-owned wine brands,” says Jones, a scientist who is the second black woman to receive a doctoral degree in plant pathology from the University of California, Davis.

To celebrate her wines’ debut, Jones is hosting a special event to meet her and taste Darjean Jones Wines on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 7 – 10 p.m. at the Star Cinema Grill in Cypress, Texas.  The private movie screening will include dinner and a glass of her rosé which is featured in the movie. Bottles of the wines will also be available for purchase.  Tickets are $60 and available on Eventbrite.

A selection of Darjean Jones Wines will also be served at the James Beard House in New York City for the upcoming “Savoring Jamaica” event produced by The Chef’s Advocate on Wednesday, Nov. 7. For information on this event, go to the James Beard Foundation website.
