Brighten your day with “From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen” by Snoop Dogg. This fun cookbook features 50 platinum recipes straight from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen.

Some of the recipes you may be familiar with, while others will pique your curiosity. All are simple to prepare with straightforward instructions. A handful comes without pictures. Still, I’m diggin’ the Mack & Cheese, Get Tha Chip Fried Chicken Wings, Bow Wow Brownies and Ice Cream, Roll Royce PB-Chocolate Chip Cookies and the Remix Gin & Juice. I might add them to my quarantine date night menu.

This hardcover gives readers the Snoop Dogg they expect. He shares his OG Munchies Roundups, a look into his pantry and refrigerator and his playlists. Though the publication contains bright paper, the print seems hard to read on a few pages. I did, nonetheless, like how the author showcases the soul food segments with color blocks and how he uses an unusual font throughout.

Given the nickname of the Peanuts’ character by his mom, Snoop Dogg added food entrepreneur to his resume over the years with partnerships with Dunkin, Better-For-You-Munchies, Popchips and most recently Tostitos.  Appearances on Martha Stewart’s show lead to the start of an unlikely friendship.  In 2016, “Martha & Snoop Potluck Dinner” premiered on VH1 and in 2018 earned the cooking duo an Emmy nomination.

The award-winning artist whose career spans across music, film and television has dined extensively throughout the world which has allowed him to expand his palate. However, he has not forgotten where he came from – Long Beach, Calif. He reimaged both worlds with help from family and friends like Stewart to offer cooks the best experience.

“From Crook to Cook” provides fans with ideas for everyday dishes and entertaining that are not pretentious. Snoop Dogg delivers them with the charisma and vernacular that so many have come to adore. I think you will enjoy it. I did.

For a little tease, I recreated the Roll Royce PB-Chocolate Chip Cookies available in our recipe section.
