Gia’s Cheesorizo – Looks and Tastes Like Sausage

Culinary innovation is what we love to see and taste.  When cheesemaker Gianaclis Caldwell wanted to have something savory but meatless to go with her eggs she decided to get creative and Cheesorizo® was born.

Looking and cooking like sausage, Cheesorizo® is made with a variety spices, sea salt, maple extract, apple cider vinegar and the cow’s whole milk.  It is actually vegetarian, all natural and GMO, gluten and soy free and can be sautéed, baked, or fried.  This versatile product is great for omeletts, salads, tacos, spaghetti, pizza and more.

Available in Italian, Fiesta and Maple, we created two recipes that made us an instant fan.  First we sauteed the Maple Sage and tossed it in a quinoa salad with veggies and a light vinaigrette.  A winner.  Next we sauteed the Fiesta Cheesorizo® and added it to our sauteed kale greens with garlic and onions.  Another hit.  The Italian is being saved for our home made flatbread pizzas to enjoy during the upcoming NBA Finals.

You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this product.  We like to do Meatless Mondays and now have another favorite to get creative with.

Look for Cheesorizo® in the very near future at your local Whole Foods store and for a list of current locations, click here.  Each  6 oz. retails between $4.99 and $5.99.
